NHS- LIFT was a £1 billion programme to refurbish and replace hundreds of family doctors’ premises through a unique 25 year public-private partnership initiative to redevelop primary health care facilities.
Through a joint venture with The William Pears Group, we were the private sector partner within three London areas. The initial schemes totalled approximately £70 million in construction value with further tranches of approximately £200 million.
Each LIFT project worked through a Joint venture company (LIFTCo) established between the local NHS, Partnerships for Health, (which managed the LIFT programme nationally) and the private sector partner. This project was identified through competitive procurement.
LIFTCo was responsible for planning, designing, constructing and maintaining new or replacement primary and community care facilities over a 20-25 year period. The NHS paid a “lease plus” rent for the use of new premises.
